I am most surely a homebody. I love noticing the pattern of wrinkles in my bed sheets each morning and steeping a cup of mint tea in my scratched-up mug. I love to feel snug and calm in my familiar space, however my life would not be as full of spirit and thoughtfulness had I never traveled. The saying, ‘adventures are the best way to learn’, is full of truth. The places I have been each plant new tastes, sights and ways of living so diverse, and sometimes similar to mine, inside my skin. It’s like gathering crumbs from all these corners of the world that get baked into your soul when you travel. They continue to teach and guide you long after you’ve returned from your trip.
This week my boyfriend and I are heading off on a new adventure to Iceland. It is a country I have wanted to visit for a while now. The open space, the green, the frozen, it feels like a place I will connect with, a place I can breathe deeply. Travel still does not come naturally to me, I fret and worry but being organized and planned settles me. I find having some comforts of the routines of home helpful and reassuring.
Today I’m sharing some of my green beauty and skincare essentials that will most definitely be tucked in my bag for this vacation.
One Love Organics Healthy Locks Dry Shampoo – For those early morning road trip days, I would happily use this deliciously scented powder and skip washing my hair if it meant packing in a few more sights. I sprinkle a little onto my roots, let it sit for a moment and then massage it into my scalp. I have dark brown hair and I’m able to get the product to completely disappear quite effortlessly. Clean looking hair and more time for adventures. Sold.
Kaia Naturals Juicy Bamboo Natural Facial Cleansing Oil Cloths – I love a good multi-use product when traveling and these cloths remove all my eye makeup and are wonderful as a first cleanse! Soaked in honey, beautiful oils and rich vitamins, they nourish skin in a convenient and conscious manner. They also win for sweetest packaging.
Dr. Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips – My lips chap in every weather condition, and Iceland is known for quick changing climate patterns. This 100% pure medical grade lanolin (not vegan) balm is my ultimate hydrating lip product. One coat lasts hours and protects my lips from whatever elements the weather throws my way.
Heritage Store Rose Petals Rosewater – I use this as a light and refreshing facial toner to keep my skin feeling hydrated. It’s gentle on my sensitive skin and smells like walking through a meadow. What could be better?
Coola Face Spf 30 Cucumber Matte Finish – This natural sunscreen provides protection and goes on smoothly, almost like a primer. It blends in seamlessly, feels light on the skin and preps my face perfectly for makeup.
CV Skinlabs Calming Moisture for Face, Neck and Scalp – I am head over heels in love with this brand’s entire range of products and I could write pages on how it has healed my skin from dryness and eczema but that is for another day. All I need to say here is, this moisturizer is the kindest and gentlest provider of hydration I have experienced. Plane journeys and new climates dry my skin out severely and I know this will restore glow and moisture. It completely delivers on all of its claims and I will continue to repurchase and repurchase this product, traveling or not.
Now, this is not everything beauty and skincare related I am bringing but I do plan on keeping it minimal while away. I want to spend my time experiencing and absorbing as much as I can in this new environment, so the less time I spend in front of a mirror, the better.
Till next week,
